Hiking Dutch Miller Gap

Dutch Miller Gap is a destination along the Middle Fork to Salmon La Sac Traverse, or a destination in and of itself. It's a lovely spot, but takes a drive on rough road and a long hike to access.

The Gap itself is a small, forested pass with meadows at 5,000 feet of elevation. From here it is possible to do a thru-hike out Waptus River or simply turn around and head back the way you came.

Getting There

From North Bend, travel east on I-90 for to exit 34. Then, follow 468th Avenue North. In 0.6 miles turn right onto the Middle Fork Road (Forest Service road 56).

Stay on Forest Service Road 56 for 12.0 miles at which point it veers to the right. (To the left is the parking area for Garfield Ledges. Continue for another 5.0 miles on this now very rough road; the parking area is on the right side of the road and trailhead is on the left. It's the old roadbed.
