This natural area is a green oasis within the boundaries of Spokane Valley, and the Deep Ravine loop is a showcase of the valley's geology.
Walk beneath the breezeway at Camp Caro's log cabin and begin to ascend the hill, watching for the new trail segment on the left-hand side — installed as part of a WTA work party in the spring of 2014. Rarely does a work crew find such outstanding rock, put to good use here in the form of rock steps as one begins a short climb before going down into the ravine.
Summer visitors will feel the temperatures drop and see the vegetation change within the moisture-rich ravine; visitors in all seasons will marvel at the rock outcroppings along the route. The ravine trail rejoins the larger trail system near Goldback Spring, where hikers have the choice of returning to Camp Caro or continuing to explore via linked loop trails.
