This unmaintained trail follows Dexter Ridge south across the Washington-Oregon border and down to the Wenaha River. Tucked away in the Umatilla National Forest, this trail requires some routefinding and a willingness to travel through some brushy sections. There is also the potential for some rugged creek fords depending on water levels.
You follow the ridge for the length of the trail as it descends down to the river. Once down in the valley, it's either back up the same trail or you can follow the river northeast to link up with a few other trails leading back to the same area: The Slick Ear Trail and the Grizzly Bear Trail. These both make for good loop options, depending on the length you’re comfortable with.
