Hiking Devil's Backbone

Devil's Backbone is a multi-use trail for bikers and hikers. Among the several peaks this trail brings you right up to are Stormy Mountain (about 1.3 miles in) and Angle Peak (about 8.4 miles in).

Getting There

This trail can be accessed from the Windy Saddle trailhead on the eastern end or the Crescent Hill trailhead on the western end.

To start at Windy Saddle, take US-97 W from Chelan. In about 3 miles, take the right onto WA-971. Continue straight for 16.4 miles; when WA-971 turns left, make sure to continue going straight onto S Lakeshore Road. Turn left onto NF-9000/Shady Pass Road and continue for 2.5 miles. At the fork, take the left onto Slide Ridge Road, and continue for 1.1 miles. Take a sharp right to stay on the same road for another 5.1 miles. Take another sharp right to stay on the same road for another 9.7 miles. Turn left to stay on the road again and you'll hit the trailhead in 1.1 miles.
