The Coal Mines trail is a mellow hike from Cle Elum, through Roslyn and on to Ronald with views of many different coal mining remains. This trail is great for hiking, biking, horseback riding, and running.
Beginning in Cle Elum, walk gradually up along many old coal mining slag piles and fan houses toward Ronald. The Coal Mines Trail is well-maintained is as wide as a dirt road.
There is some parking near the entrance of the trail and no parking passes are required. From Cle Elum to Ronald it is 5.5 miles with only a 453 foot elevation gain and about half way down the trail it crosses Hwy 903 as you walk through Roslyn.
This trail is great for all types of hikers and visitor that would like to get a glimpse of the old mining activity that was once abundant in this area.
