Hiking Clear Creek Trail

With more than 7 miles of trail, the Clear Creek Trail system offers respite from the busy commercial scene of Silverdale. Both paved and unpaved, the trail is gentle, making it a family- and pet-friendly destination that is popular with walkers, runners and bikers.

There are numerous starting points along the trail. One of the more accessible sections begins at Silverdale Rotary Gateway Park, near a skate park and off-leash dog park.

From the parking lot, travel north along the path to the end of Schold Road. Continue on the road to a gravel trail near a kiosk on the left. Follow the trail, crossing over a boardwalk, and take a right onto the North Wetlands Trail. Amid the willows, skunk cabbage and cattails, watch for birds such as blue herons, swallows and hawks.

Beyond the end of the boardwalk, go right just past a bench at 0.8 mile. Cross a bridge and continue forward through tall grass to a left turn at the gravel road. At about 1.1 miles, reach a junction with the paved trail. For a detour to expanded views of the valley and historic farmlands, go right and continue to trail’s end, marked by a kiosk.

Return to the main route, staying on the paved path. Back on the main route, after 2.6 miles, reach a bridge and covered shelter—a nice place for a picnic and viewing of the recent wetland and floodplain restoration. Past the bridge, take a left near the shelter and return to the parking lot, passing a living retaining wall.

WTA Pro Tip: For the safety of wildlife, please leash your pets and pick up their waste. Waste bags and trash cans are provided at several locations along the trail.

Wheelchair Accessibility

2.1 miles are hikeable via wheelchair starting from Silverdale Rotary Gateway Park with 73 foot elevation gain and minimal cross-slope. The trail consists of boardwalk, packed dirt and paved sections. About 50 feet of the trail has 2-3 inch stones jutting up from surface making for a very rocky ride on freeway side of wetlands area.
