Hiking Carlisle Lake

Carlisle Lake Park is located in the town of Onalaska and boasts a one mile loop trail around a popular lake. This path is wide and flat and is regularly maintained by devoted volunteers. In fact, community partnerships are what make this park so special.

The park is owned by a local nonprofit called the Onalaska Alliance, and the lake is stocked with fish and managed by the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife. Over the years, students from the nearby high school and middle school have planted over 1,200 trees along these shores to create a forest that visitors can now wander through.

This park has seen big changes since the days when the lake was used as a mill pond for a large timber operation that in turn supported the local economy. Look for plaques around the lake to tell you more about this history. A spirit of community and public service has made this a beautiful place to stroll along a gentle path and watch the birds or whatever else might catch your eye.
