Hiking Cappy's Trails

This network of trails that weave through the town of Port Townsend just west of Fort Warden State Park are known as Cappy’s Trails. These trails weave through a greenspace that is bordered by streets and residential areas. There are many entry and exit points along these streets, but a main hub is the Jefferson County Fairgrounds. To figure out a good route, take a a look at this great map from the City of Port Townsend.

Getting There

From the Port Townsend Ferry Dock, head SW on Water St. for 0.3 miles. Continue on Sims Way for another 0.2 mile, then turn right onto Kearney St. for 0.4 mile. Turn left onto Blaine St./19th St., then take the first right onto San Juan Avenue. Stay on this for 1.8 miles as it curves around to the left and becomes 49th St. Turn left onto Jackman St. and the fairgrounds will be on your left.

Take Transit:

Jefferson Transit Route 3 stops at several places with close access to Cappy’s Trails.
