Hiking Bullion Basin Snowshoe

This intermediate/advanced snowshoe route departs from the Crystal Mountain parking area and tours around Bullion Basin, offering views and snow fun. Be aware of avalanche risk when embarking on this outing, and have gear and prior expertise navigating snow travel.

Before you start your outing, check in at the ski patrol office. Letting someone know where you're heading is important whenever you go hiking, but the ski patrol at Crystal like to know not only who is skiing on the mountain, but who might be recreating on snowshoes as well.

From the parking area, look for the trailhead signs for Bullion Basin and Silver Creek. Climb moderately steeply into Bullion Basin. Once there, take in the views. From here you can continue on, following the Pacific Crest Trail (map or GPS required).

The PCT section of this hike may have cornices and elevated avalanche danger. Only those with experience traveling in conditions like this should continue.

To enjoy the views from Crystal Mountain Resort without the stress of navigating avalanche territory, consider a guided snowshoe tour, which includes equipment rental.
