Hiking Boyd Creek Interpretive Trail

This less-than-a-mile boardwalk hike is a lovely way to get outside and enjoy a little forest time in a cathedral of trees.

Appropriately, the trail starts at the base of Church Mountain. Take in the top of the peak from the trailhead, which offers a lovely view of the peak of Church Mountain. Heading down the wide flat dirt path, you'll be accompanied by the sounds of Boyd Creek, a salmon-bearing stream that was restored to provide salmon habitat.

Pass a small bench where you can simply sit and enjoy your surroundings before the trail transitions from a dirt path to a raised boardwalk ending in a viewing platform. Hemlock and western redcedar, alder and salmonberry bushes line the way, and overhanging branches make for a slightly spooky feel to the trail in the right weather. Otherwise it is a lovely outing for any sort of hiker to enjoy a little bit of time in the woods.

Wheelchair Accessibility

While normally wheelchair-friendly, the Boyd Creek Trail is a few hundred feet behind a road washout that limits access to the trail's parking lot. Those who can hike with a cane may be able to navigate the bypass trail but it is likely too narrow for most wheelchairs.
