This 72-acre lake and peat wetlands provide habitat for white-tailed and mule deer, beaver and bufflehead, loons, moose, bald eagle, and even black bear.
A short barrier free, accessible trail passes these wetlands as it guides you to an observation tower with views of the namesake lake.
If you're interested in a longer hike, take the 2.4 mile Meadow Magic trail, which leaves the campground and loops around the lake. Begin at the campground, but beware that the map of the recreation area is not accurate in regard to the trail parking and forest service roads.
This is also a gorgeous location for beginning snowshoers to visit in the winter!
