Bear Lake Regional Park has a short hiking trail and is a popular spot for families. This Spokane County Park is 166 acres in total and has a 29.5 acre lake. The main trail is paved and encircles the lake. It includes multiple places to access the shoreline, with two large swimming beaches and a dock. It also has numerous picnic tables and a large covered picnic area on each side of the lake. The west side covered picnic shelter may be reserved for private use through Spokane County Parks, and the east side picnic shelter is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
In the summer months Bear Lake Regional Park is a popular place to swim, paddle board, and kayak. It is also open to fishing, but is subject to juvenile fishing rules (check with Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife). The trail around the lake is 1.23 miles, with shorter spur trails available nearby to add a little extra distance. The park is open year-round, and is a quiet place to birdwatch in the off-season.
