Hiking Alpine Falls

If you’re in need of a quick leg stretch while traveling over the pass, the trail to Alpine Falls may be just the place. The trail is very short and features a powerful waterfall where the Tye River flows over giant granite boulders.

From the small parking area, find the unsigned trail leading south into the trees. The trail is wide and shaded within the forest. After about 250 feet, reach a large rocky outcropping at the top of Alpine Falls. There are no rails and the rocks could be treacherous when wet.

On your way back, you may notice faint boot paths leading further into the forest and down to the bottom of the falls. None of the trails here are maintained, so have care where you explore and try not to trample the lush plant life.
