Borlin was a former Monroe school teacher and city council member. He was a champion of parks and environmental education, so this park is a fitting tribute to his memory. This oasis in an urban setting features some creature comforts: barbeques, picnic areas, even a beach area.
But the trails themselves weave through a thickly wooded area, and include views of the Skykomish River.
In addition to the draw of nature, relics of the past can be found here. Bits and pieces of what once was the longest covered railroad bridge in the world originally constructed by the Everett & Cherry Valley Traction Company Railway to cross the Skykomish river and provide rail service down to what is now Carnation.
