Give the Gift of Gear

One of the best ways to be a trail smart hiker is to carry and wear the proper gear. WTA believes that everyone should be able to access our trails and public lands, and that gear shouldn’t be a barrier to exploration.
Did you perhaps discover equipment gathering dust during your fall cleaning? Have you recently upgraded your collection, but nostalgia is compelling you to keep that old item anyway? Is something just not fitting comfortably anymore?
If any of the above describes you, we hope you’ll take our pledge to gift (or loan) gear to a friend or community member that may be new to hiking or who simply is looking to add to their collection. Whether it’s a winter hat or a backpacking tent, passing that gear on is one small step to help fellow hikers experience the outdoors safely. No item is too small.
And did we mention it’s so much better than tossing something in the trash? The average American throws out 81 pounds of clothing per year, which all goes straight to landfills.
So join us! Give a gift this season to a fellow hiker and the environment at the same time. And hey, it feels pretty nice to help out, too.
